After a prolonged period of “No Radio in Car” my 578 pro is back in business. My new vehicle is full of electronic wizardry, so I have decided to make a seperate power pack for the 578, comprising a sturdy plastic case, 12v sealed battery and a couple of HD Anderson connectors. All of which can be taken out of the vehicle very quicky and given an overnight charge as required. Hopefully this separate supply will avoid any conflicts with the car electronics.
My Ecowitt WX station has been down for a few months, mostly (ironically) thanks to the bloomin’ awful wx we have been having. I was concerned that it might be terminal as it’s been installed for about 5 years and wasn’t exactly an expensive one. However, I got up on the shack roof and changed out the 2 x aa batteries that have been in it since day one. Not surprisingly the terminals were a little corroded so a clean up was required. Pressed the reset and lo and behold she fired up. A wee bit a calibration required for the pressure and that was it. Back transmitting to Wunderground etc. See the WX page here.

New laptop continues to throw up the odd problem. I managed to download a copy of the Hytera CPS so I can programme my PD365 but could not get the programming cable to connect. Just kept getting a message saying Windows 11 does not support the PL2303. Eventually found a post on the Microsoft / Techcommunity strangely giving a link to D-Link for a driver ……but it works.!!
Bought a new laptop a few days ago and started loading various programmes. Spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to install OpenGD77 CPS. Eset kept blocking the download and even when I got it to download Eset immediately quarantined the file. After a bit of investigation found Eset “Live Grid” was the culprit. Main Dashboard>Setup>Advanced SetUp (bottom righthand corner)>Cloud based Protection>Disable Eset Live Grid Protection. Success !! Re-enable after download. Mind you …….you won’t be allowed to forget as Eset will nag you!!
